Meta is seeking an Engineer to join our Release to Production (RTP) team. Our servers and data centers serve as the backbone of our rapidly expanding infrastructure, facilitating the efficient delivery of our innovative services. The RTP team oversees the Hardware Lifecycle of all Meta servers, encompassing pre-production hands-on system and hardware debugging, stress testing, production-ready system monitoring, automated provisioning, and automated issue resolution.

RTP Engineers collaborate closely with hardware designers, system manufacturers, component vendors, capacity engineering, production engineering, Meta services, and data center operations teams. Their primary objective is to test systems before deployment to our production data centers and to monitor the health and lifecycle of servers in operation.

The RTP Silicon squad focuses on delivering scalable and reliable custom ASIC (Application-Specific Integrated Circuit) solutions to fulfill Meta’s data center requirements. Our mission involves tackling data center scaling and deployment challenges by adopting a systems-based approach to Silicon bring-up and validation.

Hardware Systems Engineer, Silicon Responsibilities

• Collaborate with end users to comprehend system use cases and provide guidance for validation.
• Ensure tight loops between hardware qualification and final application use models.
• Prioritize volume and velocity of qualifications to expedite ramp-up to production.
• Engage in all phases of silicon productization, from early architecture and design inputs to pre-silicon validation, bring-up, and post-silicon characterization.
• Work closely with the architecture team, offering insights from performance and power characterization to inform future enhancements.
• Collaborate with the verification team to devise comprehensive pre and post-silicon test plans.
• Develop tests, create bare metal operating systems, and enable frameworks for scalable testing across pre-silicon platforms and multiple ASICs in the lab during post-silicon phases.
• Conduct extensive functional and electrical characterization across temperature, process corner, and voltage variations.
• Develop and maintain extensive lab automation to support scalability.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Hands-on experience in software, firmware, and hardware engineering for building systems/products in the IT industry.
• Knowledge and understanding of server/systems architecture and components.
